Emotional connection 101

I talk about emotional connection a lot in the brand strategies I write, partly because I love all things connection, but also because it’s pretty key in branding! And one of the best ways we can emotionally connect is human to human.

As human beings, we need connection for survival, so it makes sense that our brains search for it daily. And in general, human beings want to connect with other human beings. People buy from people they know, like & trust when they have the option. Therefore… anything you can do to humanise your brand has the ability to make the most important emotional connection possible - human connection.

But don’t forget, your business is YOUR business, so it needs to be done YOUR way. And whatever way that is, doesn’t have to make sense to anyone else but YOU! #youdoyou #always

I am a big believer that you don’t have to conform to a particular way of humanising your brand if it doesn’t feel good for you, or aligned with your values. Because if it doesn’t feel good for you, it won’t be comfortable or authentic, and this will most likely be noticeable, and let’s face it, not sustainable in the long run!

To give you an example of someone who I think is pretty amazing at humanising her brand in an authentic way, let me show you the wonderful face of Belle, the founder of @the.organised.abode.co  {proudly showcasing the brand colours & logo we created together, in the form of beautiful merch! What a dream- can I have a jumper please belle!}

I had the pleasure of working with Belle on her branding before she launched her new organising business in 2024. Not only is she a super relatable human, she also has a really fun and passionate energy that makes her brand unique. And I think she does a great job of putting this same energy into her reels - humanising them with her energy through her voiceovers. She’s also really good at putting her face out in the world when she wants to, in a way that feels good for her. In my opinion, you can really get a feel for what she’s like as a IRL human, through her socials, which is pretty cool!

If you dont already follow her, I highly recommened. Her organising reels & tips are 10/10!
